Lekhapani, March 31: A quarterly operational meeting of security agencies reviewed the prevailing security scenario across Upper Assam, South Arunachal Pradesh and adjoining areas of Nagaland, with a focus on strengthening coordination and preparedness ahead of the upcoming Assam Legislative Assembly elections.
The meeting, held at Lekhapani under the aegis of Spear Corps and the Directorate General of Assam Rifles, brought together representatives of the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, state police and intelligence agencies.
Among those present was Hibu Tamang, IGP (Ops), TCL Region, along with Assam Rifles formation commanders, Army officials from Upper Assam and senior police officers from the concerned states.
Discussions centred on assessing ground-level intelligence, improving real-time information sharing and aligning operational priorities among agencies.
Officials also reviewed insurgent activities, cross-border movement and measures to enhance surveillance in sensitive areas.
Meanwhile, in view of the forthcoming Assembly elections, emphasis was laid on maintaining heightened vigilance to ensure a peaceful and uninterrupted electoral process.
Officials further stressed the importance of joint operations, coordinated response mechanisms and continued inter-agency cooperation to effectively address emerging security challenges in the region.
