Assam Rifles, Cachar Police Crack Interstate Touting Network; Four Held Including Foreign National

Silchar, March 26: In a major crackdown on illegal cross-border activities, Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Cachar Police, dismantled an interstate tout network operating in Silchar on March 25, a press release said on Thursday.

The operation was launched based on specific intelligence inputs regarding a group involved in facilitating the unlawful movement of foreign nationals across international borders.

According to officials, the network was engaged in organised illegal entry of individuals from Bangladesh and Myanmar into India through Tripura and Mizoram, as well as assisting the exit of illegal foreign nationals from the country.

Meanwhile, during the operation, four individuals were apprehended. Among them is a Nigerian national, identified as Emeka (44), along with three Indian nationals: K Malsawmdawngi from Aizawl, Tinku Hussain Barbhuiya from Silchar, and Ramina Begum Barbhuiya, also from Silchar.

Additionally, preliminary investigation has revealed that the group played a key role in systematically arranging illegal cross-border movement.

The apprehended individuals have been handed over to the police for further investigation.
