Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh), Nov 14 : The 763 Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) under Project Vartak organised a slogan writing and painting competition across four schools in Tawang district to promote awareness on road construction, road safety and community participation in building safer roads.

A total of 268 students from Kendriya Vidyalaya Tawang, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Teli, Government Secondary School Kitpi and Tawang Public/Sainik School took part in the event.
They produced 165 paintings and 103 slogans, many of which will be displayed on permanent road safety boards along major routes in Tawang with the names of the child artists and their schools.

The initiative sought to combine learning with creativity while encouraging children to become advocates of safe driving practices within their families and the wider community.
“When children express road safety through art, it creates a strong impression on their young minds. This will stay with them lifelong,” said a teacher from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya.
A student from Kendriya Vidyalaya remarked, “I feel proud that my painting may be displayed on the road. It will remind people to drive safely because children also care for safe roads.”
Parents also welcomed the effort. One parent from Kitpi said, “This is a wonderful step.
Children will not only guide themselves but also remind us, the parents, about helmets, seatbelts and careful driving.”
A community elder added, “Roads are lifelines in this region. Involving children ensures society becomes a partner in the mission of safer, better roads.”
The programme concluded with appreciation for the students, whose contributions will help enhance road safety awareness across Tawang.
