NFR strengthens educational infrastructure across its network

Maligaon (Guwahati), Dec 14 : The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has stepped up efforts to strengthen educational infrastructure across its jurisdiction, with General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava laying the foundation stone for a major expansion at Netaji Vidyapith Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon.

The foundation stone was laid on December 12 for the construction of an additional double-storey building with 20 new rooms at the school.

The project is part of a series of initiatives aimed at improving learning environments in railway-run educational institutions.

Several development works are underway at the Maligaon school alongside the new building.

These include setting up a dedicated laboratory complex, providing modern furniture, green boards and smart boards, installing CCTV systems, establishing a digital library and upgrading computer laboratory facilities.

Additional improvements such as better teacher rooms, upgraded toilet complexes, installation of RO water units, creation of a music room, covered sheds, enhancement of the auditorium, fencing and development of the circulating area are also being taken up.

Across the NFR zone, a number of completed and ongoing projects are transforming railway school infrastructure.

Works in progress include renovation and development at Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon, construction of a modern playground and prayer ground, improvement of boundary walls, parking areas, entrance gates and smart classrooms. Construction and repair work at Dimapur Railway High School and renovation of Railway Higher Secondary School, Alipurduar are also advancing steadily.

In recent months, NFR has completed repair and renovation of Railway Girls High School at New Jalpaiguri, along with playground and prayer ground development, boundary wall reconstruction, parking facilities and entrance gate renovation at Banimandir Railway Higher Secondary School, Siliguri. Renovation works at Railway Higher Secondary School, Lumding, and upgradation of Railway Higher Secondary School, Badarpur, have also been completed.

“These initiatives reflect NFR’s long-term vision to enhance academic facilities and create modern, student-centric learning spaces,” said an official statement issued by the railway.

The railway zone said it remains committed to continuous upgrades and digital and infrastructural development to support the academic growth of students across its jurisdiction.
