Menchuka (Arunachal Pradesh), Dec 16: The Indian Army commemorated Vijay Diwas 1971 in Menchuka, a remote border village in Arunachal Pradesh, with a documentary screening on the 1971 Indo-Pak war and outreach programmes honouring veterans and Veer Naris across the Subansiri, Siang and Siyom valley region.
As part of the observance, the Army organised a special screening of a documentary on the 1971 war for school students and teachers, highlighting key operations, leadership and acts of bravery that led to India’s victory and the liberation of Bangladesh.
Army personnel later held an interactive session with students on the significance of Vijay Diwas and the historical importance of the 1971 war, underscoring the Armed Forces’ role in safeguarding the country’s unity and integrity.
In continuation of the celebrations, Army teams also visited the residences of veterans and Veer Naris to felicitate them and acknowledge their sacrifices and contribution to the nation, officials said.
The programme, the Army said, reflects its outreach to remote border communities and efforts to ensure that accounts of sacrifice and victory reach the farthest corners of the country, strengthening national integration and civilian-military bonds.
