Tirap, Mar 28: A month-old Himalayan black bear cub was rescued by forest officials from Borduria village under Deomali subdivision in Tirap district, MyGov Arunachal Pradesh informed on the microbloggig site X on Monday.
According to reports, the cub was found in an agricultural field and the matter was promptly reported to the forest department by a local resident.
Taking to the microbloggig site X, the Government of Arunachal Pradesh said, “A Himalayan black bear cub was rescued by the Forest Department from Borduria village under Deomali subdivision.”
Acting swiftly, a team from the Borduria forest range, led by Range Forest Officer Diwang Lowang, reached the spot and safely took the cub into custody under the supervision of the Deomali Forest Division.
The rescued cub was initially provided necessary care by the department.
Subsequently, on March 28, it was handed over to veterinary expert Dr. Panjit Basumatary at the Centre for Bear Rehabilitation and Conservation, located within Pakke Tiger Reserve, for further treatment and rehabilitation.
Forest officials appreciated the timely cooperation of local villagers in ensuring the safety of the animal.
They also urged the public to actively support wildlife conservation efforts by avoiding activities such as forest destruction, poaching, and hunting.
Meanwhile, Environment and Forest Minister Wangki Lowang commended the villagers involved for their prompt action and cooperation with the authorities.
He further emphasized the crucial role of public participation in protecting wildlife and preserving natural habitats.
