Shillong, Mar 28: The Chief Minister of Meghalaya Conrad Sangma on Saturday inaugurated the 150-year celebration of the Dorbar Shnong of Lawjynriew, highlighting its deep historical and cultural significance in the evolution of Shillong.
Sharing the update on microblogging platform X, the Chief Minister said that Lawjynriew’s journey is closely intertwined with the growth of Shillong and the broader history of Meghalaya.
He wrote, “Glad to open the 150 Years Celebration of Dorbar Shnong Lawjynriew. Lawjynriew’s story is deeply connected with the growth of Shillong and the history of our state.”
He also congratulated the Dorbar Shnong of Lawjynriew and residents of the locality for successfully balancing tradition with modernity.
Sangma praised the community for embracing change while preserving its unique identity over the years.
Describing Lawjynriew as a model for others, the Chief Minister said the locality stands as a symbol of harmony, coexistence and progress, reflecting the core values of Meghalaya’s society.
The 150-year milestone is being seen as a significant occasion celebrating the rich legacy, unity and resilience of the people of Lawjynriew.
“Congratulations to the Dorbar Shnong of Lawjynriew and the people of the locality for embracing change while preserving its identity and for standing as a symbol of harmony, coexistence, and progress”, he added.
