Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik Hails Decision To Withdraw Three Farm Laws

Meghalaya Governor Satyapal Malik on Friday hailed the decision to withdraw the three contentious farm laws. In a tweet, the Governor said, “I am grateful to PM Modi for feeling the pain of the farmers and repealing the 3 farm laws. The farmers should be pleased that their peaceful protests were heard and accepted by Modiji. This is a win win situation for everyone.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the nation on Friday morning announced that the three farm laws will be repealed during the forthcoming winter session of the Parliament.

Various farmers unions have been protesting at the borders of the national capital since last year to demand repeal of three farm laws.

On the other hand, the Meghalaya governor Satya Pal Malik had been a vociferous critic of the Central Government for enacting the fam laws.

Malik had earlier taunted the Delhi ‘netas’ saying they express condolences even when an animal dies, but no condolences were offered when 600 people died during the farmers’ protest, he claimed.
