Imphal, April 1: The Indian U-20 women’s football team has secured qualification for the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup 2026, marking a historic return to the continental tournament after a gap of two decades, MyGov Manipur announced on microblogging site X.
The competition is scheduled to be held in Thailand. The achievement has been hailed as a proud moment for Manipur, with nine footballers from the state forming a key part of the squad.
Among them are Moirangthem Monalisa, Remi Thokchom, Nameirakpam Arina, Sahena Thokchom, Thoibisana Toijam, Anju Kayenpaibam, Bhumika Khumukcham, Lhingdeikim, and Sibani Nongmeikapam.
In a post shared on X, MyGov Manipur congratulated the players, praising their dedication and perseverance.
“The people of Manipur take immense pride in your achievement and extend their heartfelt support as you prepare for the tournament. Best wishes to our daughters of Manipur, may you bring glory to the nation”, MyGov Manipur wrote.
