Meghalaya district names with headquarters

Meghalaya, a picturesque state in northeastern India, is divided into 12 districts, each with its own administrative headquarters:

1. East Khasi Hills – Shillong
2. West Khasi Hills – Nongstoin
3. South West Khasi Hills – Mawkyrwat
4. Eastern West Khasi Hills – Mairang
5. Ri-Bhoi – Nongpoh
6. West Jaintia Hills – Jowai
7. East Jaintia Hills – Khliehriat
8. North Garo Hills – Resubelpara
9. East Garo Hills – Williamnagar
10. South Garo Hills – Baghmara
11. West Garo Hills – Tura
12. South West Garo Hills – Ampati

The most recent addition is the Eastern West Khasi Hills district, established in 2021 with Mairang as its headquarters.

Each district contributes uniquely to Meghalaya’s rich cultural tapestry and natural beauty, offering diverse experiences for visitors and residents alike.
