Guwahati (Assam), Dec 3 : Kuldeep Singh, a 1990-batch BSF cadre officer, has taken over as inspector general of the Border Security Force (BSF), Guwahati Frontier, succeeding Sukhdev Raj, who has been posted to the Western Command, Chandigarh.
A direct-entry officer who began his career as assistant commandant, Singh brings with him 35 years of distinguished service with extensive field, staff and instructional experience, including key tenures with the National Security Guard (NSG) and the UN Mission in Kosovo.
He has also served as an instructor at the BSF Academy and holds degrees in Law and MBA (Disaster Management), besides being an alumnus of the Defence Services Staff College, Wellington.
With this professional background and leadership experience, his appointment is expected to further strengthen the organisation’s operational and administrative capabilities, the BSF Guwahati Frontier public relations officer (PRO) said in an official release.
After assuming charge, Singh stressed upon effective border management to prevent crimes along the Indo-Bangladesh international border and the need to promote a sense of security among people residing in bordering areas.
“He also emphasized on maintaining the existing cordial relationship between the Border Guarding Forces of two neighbouring countries,” the BSF PRO stated in the release.
