A joint operation by Assam Rifles and Manipur Police busted a hideout of Zeliangrong United Front (J) on Tuesday and recovered arms and ammunition in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.

According to the sources, acting on a tip off about the existence of ZUF(J) group cadres, a joint team of police and AR launched a search operation at Nungjang village in Kangpokpi district.

The insurgents managed to flee before security personnel arrived in Kangpokpi leaving behind the arms and ammunition, according to an official.

The recovered arms and ammunition include one .22 mm pistol, one 9mm revolver and two M-79 grenades.
