Guwahati, November 13 – In a startling incident amidst Diwali celebrations, a woman under the influence of alcohol caused a significant disturbance on the Shraddhanjali Flyover in Guwahati. The event, which took place on November 12, has raised concerns about road safety and public decorum during festive times.
The woman, whose identity has not been disclosed, was apprehended by traffic police on Zoo Road for riding a motorcycle without a helmet. The routine traffic stop quickly escalated into a fiasco when the intoxicated woman began behaving erratically. Eyewitnesses reported that she aggressively resisted the police’s attempts to enforce the law, culminating in her tearing off a police officer’s nameplate.

Confronted by the police, she was heard pleading, “Take me to the police station instead of making a video. You are recording the video only for publicity, and mind you if you post it on social media. If my parents watch this video, they would commit suicide.”
This statement highlights the personal distress she was experiencing at the moment. As the altercation with the police personnel continued, she broke down, revealing a deeper personal crisis: “I am lonely in this world; my parents abandoned me, and that is why I have started to drink.” This heart-wrenching confession sheds light on the possible underlying issues leading to her behavior and adds a layer of complexity to the incident.
