Joint operation with NCB and West Bengal Police targets plantations in Cooch Behar’s Kismat Adhabari village
Guwahati (Assam), Nov 22: Border Security Force (BSF) troops under Guwahati Frontier have destroyed around 48 acres of illegally cultivated ganja in a joint operation along the Indo-Bangladesh border in West Bengal’s Cooch Behar district.

Acting on specific information, personnel of the 78 Battalion BSF, along with officials of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Siliguri, and West Bengal Police, carried out the special drive on November 20 in Kismat Adhabari village under Sitai police station limits.
The illegal plantations were uprooted and destroyed following due procedures, the force said in a statement.
The BSF said that in recent times, such ganja cultivation has emerged as an “easy source of earning” for local outlaws in the border belt.
However, it added that its troops remain on high alert to detect and curb illegal cultivation, narcotics-linked activities and other trans-border crimes along the Indo-Bangladesh International Border.
