Assam News: Late Bhargav Das was a BJYM Member

Patharkandi, November 14, 2023: In a devastating turn of events, a young student’s life was cut short in a horrific road accident last night in Patharkandi. Bhargav Das, a 26-year-old student from Assam University Silchar, enrolled in the BSW course, became the victim of a speeding vehicle that lost control and struck him fatally.
The tragedy unfolded around 11:00 pm when Bhargav, accompanied by friends, was walking towards the Kali Puja pandals. A Hyundai I10 hatchback, reportedly driven by the son of local businessman Pari Banik, veered off its lane at high speed, hitting Bhargav on the right side of the road. The impact was so intense that Bhargav was thrown into a nearby gorge, where his lifeless body was later discovered.

Bhargav, the son of Vaskar Das and the grandson of renowned social worker and cultural activist Gita Das was a well-known figure in his community. The news of his untimely demise has left his family and the entire area in a state of shock and profound grief. Approximately 30 minutes after the accident, his family members found his deformed body, marking a moment of unbearable loss and sorrow.

The accident not only claimed Bhargav’s life but also critically injured one of his friends, who is currently undergoing treatment at Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, focusing on the circumstances that led to this tragic event.
In the wake of the tragic accident in Patharkandi, Krishnendu Paul, the local MLA, took to social media to express his profound sorrow over the untimely demise of Bhargav Das. Bhargav, who was actively involved in the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) as the College charge for Patharkandi, was mourned by the MLA.
