Himanta Biswa Sarma shares dates for Class 10 and 12 board exams on X; detailed timetable to be issued by Assam State School Education Board.
Guwahati (Assam), Nov 19: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Wednesday announced the dates for the state board examinations for 2026, with the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) or matriculation exams scheduled to start on 10 February and the Higher Secondary Final Examination from 11 February.

The announcement was made through a post on his official handle on X, where he also extended best wishes to students for their preparations. He also conveyed his wishes to students appearing for the examinations. “Wishing every student the very best for their upcoming examinations,” the update stated.
The HSLC examination is the Class 10 board exam conducted in Assam, while the Higher Secondary Final Examination marks the Class 12 board assessment. Both are now overseen by the unified Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB), created after the merger of the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA), and the Assam Higher Secondary Education Council (AHSEC) under a law enacted in 2024.
Assam has traditionally held its HSLC and Higher Secondary theory papers in the February–March window; in 2025, for instance, the HSLC exams ran from mid-February to early March, while the Class 12 finals followed a similar schedule.
