Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh), Sept 27 : Soldiers of the Indian Army’s Spear Corps have successfully scaled Mount Gorichen, the highest scalable peak in Arunachal Pradesh, reaffirming both their endurance and commitment to environmental conservation.
The team reached the 6,488-meter summit on September 19, overcoming harsh winds, icy ridges, and thin air in one of the toughest terrains of the Eastern Himalayas. The expedition was launched to foster adventure and resilience while also underscoring the Army’s pledge to preserve the natural sanctity of the region.

Along their route, the soldiers conducted a cleanliness drive, highlighting the importance of sustainable mountaineering practices and the responsibility of protecting Himalayan ecosystems.
Lieutenant General Abhijjit S Pendharkar, AVSM, YSM, General Officer Commanding Spear Corps, lauded the achievement. “This expedition is a reflection of the Indian Army’s grit and resilience. Our soldiers not only conquered the formidable heights of Gorichen but also set an example in respecting and preserving the environment. It is a matter of immense pride for Spear Corps and the Indian Army,” he said.

The successful summit stands as a symbol of military excellence and ecological responsibility, reflecting the Army’s ethos of courage, determination, and service to both the nation and its natural heritage.
