Workshop on opening new schools to be held in Guwahati on November 23

Session at Hotel Vivanta to guide aspiring school promoters in Assam and Northeast on approvals, planning and academic systems

Guwahati, Nov 22: Guwahati will host a specialised workshop titled “A–Z of Opening a Successful School” at Hotel Vivanta on November 23, aimed at aspiring school founders, educational trusts and investors looking to set up schools in Assam and the wider Northeast region.

The day-long session will be led by Amol Arora, Managing Director of the SHEMROCK & SHEMFORD Group of Schools, who has worked with hundreds of school promoters across India.

The workshop is designed to demystify the operational, academic and administrative processes involved in establishing a new school — an area where first-time promoters often encounter regulatory and planning hurdles.

With rising urbanisation and growing demand for quality schooling in the Northeast, the programme will walk participants through the key steps in starting a school from scratch.

It will cover approvals and compliance requirements, infrastructure planning, admissions strategy, budgeting, branding and academic systems.

Participants will also receive a structured 100-point School Launch Checklist intended to serve as a practical planning tool.

“Many first-time promoters struggle with navigating approvals, infrastructure norms, admissions and academic planning.

This workshop is meant to offer a clear, step-by-step understanding so that they can make informed decisions during the school setup journey,” Arora said ahead of the event.

He added that urban centres in the Northeast are seeing steady demand for structured, “future-ready” education, but many local promoters lack access to technical guidance on norms and systems.

“This workshop is an attempt to bridge that gap,” he said.

The organisers said the workshop is open to education entrepreneurs, investors, existing school owners planning expansion and organisations exploring entry into the schooling sector, and aims to offer practical clarity at the early stages of school planning.
