Guwahati, Oct. 12 : The Indian Army’s Veterans Swabhiman Rally 2025 was held with solemn pride and enthusiasm at Narangi Military Station here on Sunday to honour the service and sacrifice of Armed Forces veterans and express solidarity with the families of fallen heroes.
Organised under the aegis of Headquarters 51 Sub Area, the rally brought together more than 2,500 veterans from Assam and neighbouring regions, marking one of the largest veteran congregations in recent years.
Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya graced the occasion as chief guest. In his address, he lauded the courage, dedication and patriotism of soldiers and reaffirmed the nation’s gratitude to its veterans and Veer Naris for their enduring contributions to national security and integrity.
As part of the rally, special financial aid was extended to Veer Naris and needy veterans. Welfare assistance, including motorised wheelchairs, mobility scooters and medical beds, was distributed to physically challenged veterans. Stalls offering medical support, pension advice, financial counselling and skill development opportunities were also set up to cater to the diverse needs of the veteran community.
Among the dignitaries present were Lt Gen Sanjay Malik, SM, GOC 101 Area; Maj Gen A. K. Sharma, VSM, GOC 51 Sub Area; Lt Gen R. P. Kalita, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, SM, VSM (Retd); Air Marshal Anjan Kumar Gogoi (Retd) and several senior civil and military officials.
The rally concluded with a reaffirmation of the Indian Army’s commitment to the welfare and well-being of its veterans and their families.
