Sikkim Flash Flood: Mitul Kalita’s Body will reach his hometown today.

In a tragic development, the body of the missing Army Jawan from Assam, Mitul Kalita (28), who had gone missing during the recent flash floods in Sikkim, has been recovered.

Mitul Kalita, a braveheart hailing from Baksa district in Assam, was posted in West Bengal’s Alipurduar. He was dispatched to Sikkim for official duties but tragically disappeared following a cloudburst in North Sikkim on October 4.

The recovery of his body was confirmed on Sunday morning, bringing a sense of closure to a distraught family.

The body of the late jawan will be transported to his hometown in Assam later this evening, where the last rites will be performed.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his condolences and paid tribute to Mitul Kalita, saying, “A tragic loss for Assam as it loses a braveheart in Mitul Kalita of the Indian Army, from Baksa District, in the unfortunate flash flood in Sikkim. My prayers for the departed soul & condolences to the bereaved family in this hour of grief.”

The recovery of Mitul Kalita’s body serves as a stark reminder of the dangers and challenges faced by those who serve in the Indian Army, often putting their lives on the line to protect the nation.

His sacrifice will be remembered and honoured by the people of Assam and the entire country.
