A passenger on a Delhi-Doha IndiGo flight died on Monday morning after suffering a medical emergency on board, forcing the plane to make an emergency landing at Karachi airport in Pakistan.
The passenger, who was a Nigerian national named Abdullahi, was declared dead on arrival by the airport medical team. The cause of his death is not yet known.
IndiGo airline, in a statement, said: “IndiGo flight 6E-1736, operating from Delhi to Doha, was diverted to Karachi due to a medical emergency on board. Unfortunately, the airport medical team declared the passenger dead on arrival. The news deeply saddens us, and our prayers and wishes are with his family and loved ones.”
The flight resumed its journey to Doha after a brief halt at Karachi. The incident comes less than a month after another Delhi-Doha flight of Qatar Airways made an emergency landing in Karachi due to smoke detection in the cargo hold.
