Participatory Varietal Field Day of Rice Variety Cafeteria Held at Borchapori Village in Golaghat

A Participatory Varietal Field Day of Rice Variety Cafeteria under Assam Agribusiness and Rural Transformation Project (APART), organised by Office of the District Agricultural Officer of Golaghat and APART:ATMA-Golaghat, was held at Borchapori village of Morongi Development Block under Morongi ADO Circle.

The Cafeteria was inaugurated by Sr. ADO (Agro) cum District Nodal Officer of APART, Ranjan Boruah in presence of ADO cum Convenor of Morongi Dev. Block, Shanghamitra Sarmah; District Environmental Coordinator of APART, Dr Banasree Sharma; Jr. Researcher of International Rice Research Institute, Ankita Sahu; Agricultural Extension Assistants of Morongi & Golaghat ADO Circle; Block Technology Manager of Morongi Dev. Block, Diganta Gohain; Assistant Technology Manager of Morongi Dev. Block, Jyaosi Roy; Research Technician of APART, Abhishek Singha; Local farmers and Villagers.

At the RVC, a total of 10 varieties of rice, including hybrid as well as local, were exhibited.

A total of 35 farmers from different locations were present in the programme.

The farmers voted based on the phenotypic characteristics which resulted in the variety Ranjit Sub 1 (STRV) as 1st, Kon Joha (Premium Quality Rice) as 2nd and Kajal (LPV) as 3rd.
