Maligaon (Guwahati), Nov 10 : Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) felicitated three frontline staff for their exceptional alertness and professionalism that helped prevent a major accident following a suspected blast near Kokrajhar on October 23.

General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava presented cash awards and certificates to loco pilot Jitendra Kumar, senior assistant loco pilot Sailendra Kumar Keshari, and train manager Bholaram Das for their prompt response. The goods train carrying sugar was passing between Kokrajhar and Salakati stations around 00:57 hours when the crew sensed a sudden heavy jerk. Acting swiftly, they stopped the train, informed control authorities, and discovered damage to the track near OHE Mast No. 228/1, reportedly caused by an explosion.
Their timely intervention averted a possible catastrophe, enabling quick repairs and restoration of services. Track damage was repaired within hours through coordinated work by engineers, security personnel, and frontline workers who cleared debris, replaced sleepers, and inspected the site to resume safe train operations.
NFR lauded the dedication and teamwork of all staff involved, emphasizing that their vigilance ensured passenger safety and demonstrated the railway’s commitment to operational resilience.
