Shrivastava focuses on safety, infrastructure readiness and Amrit Bharat upgrades at Samsi, Dalkhola and New Jalpaiguri
Maligaon (Guwahati), Dec 8: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava on Sunday carried out a comprehensive inspection of the Malda–New Jalpaiguri (NJP) section, with a focus on safety, infrastructure readiness and ongoing station development works.
Shrivastava, accompanied by senior officials from NFR headquarters and the division, began the inspection at Malda Town (MLDT), where he reviewed the locomotive shed.
He examined maintenance practices, safety standards and operational preparedness, and appreciated the staff for ensuring reliable and safe locomotive operations, noting the strong safety culture across the zone.
The General Manager then undertook a window trailing inspection from Malda Town to New Jalpaiguri, assessing track conditions, signalling assets, passenger amenities and other infrastructure along the route.
He stressed strict adherence to safety protocols and modern operational practices to ensure smooth and secure train operations.
During the visit, Shrivastava also reviewed progress of projects under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme (ABSS) at Samsi (SM) and Dalkhola (DLK) stations.
At Samsi, he inspected level crossing gates to check their safe and efficient functioning, while at Dalkhola he examined redevelopment works aimed at modernising station facilities, easing passenger movement and enhancing overall travel comfort.
At New Jalpaiguri, Shrivastava inspected the ongoing upgradation of the station, which is being developed as a world-class station and international terminus with modern facilities, upgraded platforms, enhanced passenger amenities and improved circulation areas.
He also took stock of other redevelopment measures under ABSS, intended to create a highly efficient, future-ready travel hub.
Commending the commitment and professionalism of railway personnel, the General Manager reiterated NFR’s focus on continuous infrastructure development, technological upgradation and safe, reliable and passenger-friendly services across the zone.
