The station handles about 48,970 passengers daily and more than 200 train movements, with peak-season footfall rising to around 65,000, officials said. The GM reviewed holding areas outside the station, including arrangements for information displays, drinking water, toilets and fans, and stressed continued vigilance and teamwork for safe, efficient travel during the holidays.

Measures in place include automatic ticket vending machines; real-time tracking of passenger density via control rooms integrated with station surveillance; and an expanded CCTV network. Additional RPF/GRP and commercial staff have been deployed in shifts, with queue management using barricades and rope lines at ticket counters, entry gates and escalator approaches. The RPF is also using drones and Segway scooters, while divisional and NFR headquarters “war rooms” are monitoring stations round the clock.

To meet higher demand, NFR has scheduled 620 trips of special trains to improve connectivity with major cities including Bengaluru, Delhi and Kolkata.

For updates, NFR advised passengers to follow its official social media handles.
