Talk On Sustainable Development Goals of Indian Railways Held at GU

A lecture on ”Sustainable Development Goa: Indian Railway Perspective” was organised by the Department Of Environmental Science, Gauhati University on Saturday, 30th April.

Paras Mehendiratta, Coaching Depot Officer, Guwahati of NF Railways, an Officer of Indian Railway Service of Mechanical Engineers delivered a lecture on the said topic.

The function was presided over by Prof. Pallavi Sharma, HoD Department of Environmental Science.

Prof. Jogen Chandra Kalita, HoD Department of Zoology was present as Chief Guest.

Prior to the lecture Ms Dimpi Bora, IFS, DFO of Kamrup West Division, addressed the students on ways to prepare for various competitive examinations conducted by UPSC.

In this lecture, Shri Mehendiratta dwelt on the various initiative of the Indian Railway towards achieving the goal of sustainable development.

He spoke on the rapid rate of the shift from diesel to electric traction in Indian Railways, the use of solar energy, the use of recycling plants, and bio-toilets all over Indian Railways.

The lecture was followed by an interactive session by the students where the students put forward their queries.
