Another success of Guwahati Police against Cattle smugglers
In a significant operation, the East Guwahati Police Department (EGPD) has once again demonstrated its commitment to curbing illegal activities. Earlier today, an EGPD team from the Jorabat Outpost of Basistha Police Station intercepted a truck at the 11th Mile.
The operation led to the rescue of 42 cattle heads and the arrest of one individual involved in the smuggling. The arrested smuggler has been identified as Israril Haque, a 33-year-old resident of Jakhalabandha. Legal proceedings have been initiated, and further investigations are underway.

Previous Incidents: A Pattern Emerges
October 27, 2023: East Guwahati Police Department (EGPD), operating out of Sonapur Police Station, successfully thwarted an illegal cattle smuggling operation near the Sonapur Tollgate and rescued 40 live cattle and detained two suspects. The intercepted truck was registered under the license plate NL01 AF 0592.
October 26, 2023: EGPD unit based at the Jorabat Outpost of Basistha Police Station halted a truck on Jorabat Link Road and rescued 20 cattle and apprehended Hafizur Rahman, a 35-year-old resident of Rupahi. The vehicle involved in the smuggling bore the license plate AS01 QC 4423.
October 25, 2023: an EGPD team from Sonapur Police Station intervened in a smuggling attempt at Digaru. The operation led to the rescue of 36 live cattle and the arrest of three individuals, including the truck’s driver. The truck was identified by its license plate, AS01 GC 9844.
