BSF Guwahati Frontier holds ‘Run for Unity’ to mark Sardar Patel’s birth anniversary

Guwahati, Nov 1 : The Border Security Force (BSF), Guwahati Frontier, organized a ‘Run for Unity’ on Thursday to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Home Minister, celebrated nationwide as National Unity Day.

The run, aimed at spreading the message of national unity and integrity, began from the BSF Frontier Headquarters campus in Patgaon and concluded at the same venue via VIP Chowk Road and Rani-Accoland Road. Officers, subordinate officers, jawans, and families from the Frontier Headquarters Guwahati, 1st Battalion National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), Air Wing Guwahati, and Composite Hospital Patgaon participated enthusiastically.

Similar runs were also organized by BSF sector headquarters and units in Coochbehar (West Bengal), Dhubri (Assam), and along the Indo-Bangladesh border areas.

A pledge ceremony to uphold the nation’s unity and integrity was also held. Addressing the gathering, DIG (PSO) Rajesh Kumar said the day commemorates Sardar Patel’s pivotal role in uniting the country after independence. He urged BSF personnel to uphold the spirit of “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat” and ensure active, voluntary participation in the celebrations.

The BSF reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining the nation’s unity and integrity alongside its duty of guarding the international borders and preventing smuggling.
