Assam News: Vigilance Sleuths Arrest Lat Mandal While Accepting Bribe

A revenue circle official posted in Hajo Revenue Circle of Assam’s Kamrup district was arrested on Thursday for allegedly accepting bribe from a complainant for converting his ceiling land to Miyadi Patta.

The accused, identified as Sh Tankeswar Nath, Lat Mandal, O/O Circle Officer, Hajo Revenue Circle, was caught red-handed by a team of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) Assam. The DVAC team had laid a trap after receiving a complaint from the victim.

Surendra Kumar, ADG and in-charge of the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-corruption, tweeted, ”Today, a team of Dir_Vac_Assam trapped red handed and arrested Sh Tankeswar Nath, Lat Mandal, O/O Circle Officer, Hajo Revenue Circle immediately after he accepted demanded bribe from the complainant for conversion of his ceiling land to Miyadi Patta.”

As per information, Tankeswar Nath is being interrogated at the Hajo Revenue Circle officer and will be bought to Guwahati HQ of DVAC soon.

The DVAC Assam is an agency under the Home Department of Assam that deals with cases of corruption and malpractices involving public servants. The agency has been conducting raids and arrests across the state to curb corruption and ensure transparency in governance.
