Assam News: Man Crushed to Death by Ultra Bus on National Highway 17

In a devastating road accident on National Highway No. 17, a man lost his life in Rampur, situated under the jurisdiction of the Bijaynagar police outpost, Kamrup Dist. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Ranjit Mahant, a resident of the Bhogpur area in Rampur. The incident unfolded as Ranjit Mahant set out from his home early in the morning with the intent to visit a nearby bank.

The tragedy occurred when Ranjit Mahant was fatally run over by a passenger bus travelling on National Highway No. 17. The ill-fated bus bore the registration number AS25-AC-9239 and was en route from Goalpara to Guwahati at the time of the accident. Ranjit Mahant succumbed to his injuries at the scene, leaving the community in shock and mourning.

Police authorities swiftly responded to the accident. Police officers promptly seized the bus involved in the incident and arrived at the accident site to take possession of Ranjit Mahant’s lifeless body. The victim’s body was subsequently transported to Guwahati for a postmortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.
