Assam’s popular singer and youth icon Zubeen Garg was hospitalised as he suddenly fell ill while participating at a special function in Guwahati on Friday evening.
He was admitted to Ayursundra Hospital here.
Meanwhile, the singing sensation in a video message to his fans and well-wishers said that there is nothing to worry and he is feeling well now. “I have been working in the studio for long hours and felt tired. The blood pressure was also high. So I decided to get admitted to the hospital and they have kept me under observation for 24 hours. Tomorrow I will back to work,” he said from the hospital bed.
Doctors in the hospital said the condition of Garg is stable now. The 48-year-old singer was suffering from lack of sleep and his eyes were reportedly puffy. “He is stable and conscious now. He is responding to the treatment,” said a doctor in the Nemcare Hospital.
It was learnt that the fans and friends of the popular artiste from Assam protected him when he was about to fall down on the ground at the event.
The incident occurred when Garg went to the Gauhati Town Club located near Judges’ Field in Panbazar at around 7:30 pm to release an audio CD of singer Anurag Saikia’s ‘Project Borgeet’.
Assam cultural affairs minister Naba Kumar Doley has rushed to the Nemcare Hospital for taking stock of the singer’s health condition, it was learnt.
Meanwhile, a large number of his fans, friends, leaders of various organisations and political parties have gathered in front of the hospital.
