Strategic Immersion at the Frontier: NDC Delegation Visits Menchuka Valley

Menchuka, Sept 26 : A 17-member delegation from the National Defence College (NDC), part of the 65th Course, visited Menchuka Valley in Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday to study the dynamics of the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and strengthen understanding of national security challenges in India’s border regions.

The delegation included eight senior Armed Forces officers, seven civil service officers, and two representatives from friendly foreign nations, reflecting the college’s integrated academic framework of joint learning and cross-sector engagement.

Members familiarised themselves with the operational environment in the high-altitude frontier, focusing on issues of border management, infrastructure development and strategic preparedness. Officials said such field visits provide practical exposure that complements classroom instruction at the NDC.

The Menchuka visit was described as part of efforts to deepen strategic awareness among participants, with exposure to terrain, socio-cultural conditions and operational realities aimed at enriching policy perspectives and fostering international cooperation.

According to defence officials, the initiative underscores India’s commitment to strengthening leadership capacity, enhancing inter-agency coordination and broadening strategic appreciation of its frontier regions.
