Pre-release first copy of the book ‘Principles and Practice of Oncology’ Edited by Dr Amal Chandra Kataki, Director of Dr B Borooah Cancer Institute (BBCI), Guwahati was presented to Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu on Tuesday at New Delhi.
Dr Shripad Banavali, Director (Academic), Tata Memorial Center, Mumbai, Dr Lalit Kumar, Head of National Cancer Institute and Professor, Medical Oncology, All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, and Dr D Barman, Deputy Director (Academic) at BBCI was also present on the occasion.

The book will be formally released by Governor of Assam Prof Jagdish Mukhi at the Raj Bhavan, Guwahati on December 14 in the presence of Assam Health Minister Keshab Mahanta.
According to Dr Kataki, Director, BBCI, this book is a step towards Atma Nirbhar Bharat (Self Reliant India), as most of the books in oncology are written and edited by authors from developed countries.
The textbook focuses on cancer diagnosis and management in the Indian context.
The book is published by BBCI and Tata Memorial Center to commemorate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav, further informing Dr Kataki.
