Kavach, adopted as India’s National Automatic Train Protection system on July 4, 2020, prevents collisions, enforces signal adherence and regulates speed, aligning with the Zero Accident Mission and Atmanirbhar Bharat.

The new lab houses key subsystems—Station Kavach, Loco Kavach, radio frequency communication, GSM and GPS antennas, loco pilot driver machine interface, a station master operation-cum-indication panel and a simulation panel.

It is designed to realistically simulate movements between stations for training Signal & Telecom personnel, loco pilots, assistant loco pilots and other staff involved in Kavach implementation, operation and maintenance.

By replicating real-world conditions, the lab aims to improve understanding of system functions, fault diagnostics and component coordination, thereby boosting technical preparedness and operational safety.

Railways said the commissioning underscores its focus on innovation, safety and skill development toward world-class operations.
