NFR Commissions 21 ATVMs Across Alipurduar Division to Boost Digital Ticketing

Machines operational at 15 stations to ease congestion and speed up unreserved ticket purchases in key Northeast Frontier Railway zone

Maligaon, Nov 30: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has commissioned 21 Automatic Ticket Vending Machines (ATVMs) across 15 stations under the Alipurduar Division, strengthening digital ticketing services in the region.

All machines became fully operational on 17 November, marking a significant upgrade in unreserved ticketing infrastructure.

According to NFR, the initiative aligns with Indian Railways’ broader push toward digital transformation and improved passenger amenities.

The ATVMs are expected to reduce crowding at Unreserved Ticketing System (UTS) counters by allowing passengers to purchase unreserved journey tickets and platform tickets through a faster, cashless interface.

The machines support smart card–based transactions, offering quicker service during peak hours.

The new ATVMs have been installed at New Coochbehar (NCB), New Alipurduar (NOQ), Kokrajhar (KOJ), Alipurduar Junction (APDJ), New Mal Junction (NMZ), Hasimara (HSA), Dinhata (DHH), Dalgaon (DLO), Fakiragram Junction (FKM), Jalpaiguri Road (JPE), Dhubri (DBB), Gossaigaon Hat (GOGH), Bamanhat (BXT), Dhupguri (DQG) and Falakata (FLK).

Officials said the machines are expected to enhance convenience by providing a user-friendly digital alternative to manual ticket purchasing.

NFR stated that with this rollout, the Alipurduar Division continues to advance technologically driven passenger services, reinforcing efforts to modernize station facilities and improve the overall travel experience for rail users in the Northeast.
