
The Nagaon Police on Sunday apprehended six cattle smugglers while they were transporting 42 heads of cattle in two trucks.
The five were reportedly caught in a trap laid by the Nagaon Police.
The Police also arrested a head constable of Nagaon police for facilitating the smuggling.
A Home Guard in this connection is absconding, according to a tweet by Nagaon Superintendent of Police Anand Mishra.

The smugglers were on their way from Sivasagar and were caught at Borghat in Nagaon district.
They were reportedly on the way to Bangladesh border with the stolen cattle.
Police also recovered cash amounting to ₹32,500 from the detained smugglers and also a car.
