MSRLS and Bandhan sign MoU to uplift ultra-poor women in Meghalaya

Shillong, Sept 25: To empower ultra-poor women-headed households in Meghalaya, the Meghalaya State Rural Livelihoods Society (MSRLS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bandhan Konnagar on Wednesday. The partnership will focus on uplifting economically vulnerable women in the state by providing them with essential skills and resources needed to achieve financial independence.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Mr. Ronendra Chowdhury, Program Director, Bandhan , Mr. Saumen Paul, Program Officer, Bandhan , Mr. Ronald Kynta, Chief operating officer of MSRLS and Mrs. Banri Khongjee, project manager at RSETI.

The collaboration will leverage the expertise of Bandhan Konnagar’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Bandhan Bank, which has been a leader in livelihood development since 2001. With operations spanning over 15 states across India, Bandhan Konnagar has a proven track record of creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and uplifting marginalized communities.

The MoU outlines several critical initiatives to improve the socio-economic status of ultra-poor women-headed households. These include skill development programs, financial literacy training, and access to microfinance.

As the CSR wing of Bandhan Bank, Bandhan Konnagar has implemented numerous programs across India to alleviate poverty and improve livelihoods. In addition, Bandhan Konnagar has made significant contributions to health and education through targeted initiatives, further contributing to community well-being.

This partnership is expected to bring significant socio-economic changes in Meghalaya, particularly for ultra-poor women-headed households. By enhancing their financial independence and skill sets, these women will improve their living conditions and contribute to their communities’ economic development.
