Forest Guard Injured In Wild Elephant Attack In Hojai

A forest guard was critically injured during an elephant attack in Kharikhana area of Jorasemar Bengali Basti under Lanka Forest Range of Hojai district on Tuesday.

The forest official was identified as Shivajit Sharma who was injured while attempting to chase away a herd of wild elephants.

Reportedly, a group of wild tuskers wandered into villages from the forest in search of food. While a forest team was attempting to chase away the elephants, one of them turned and attacked the team.

Shivajit was injured following the incident but he somehow managed to save his life. He was later rushed to Haji Abdul Majid Memorial Hospital at Hojai

It may be mentioned here that, over the past few days, man-elephant conflict has been on the rise. There were various reports of elephant attacking people which resulted in death of the victims.
