Initiative honours 1962 heroes and inspires youth across India
Guwahati, Nov 4 : A team of officers from the Dao Warriors organised a pan-India series of presentations on the Battle of Walong across schools and colleges in Dimapur, Dibrugarh, Namsai, Delhi, Pune and Mumbai during October–November 2025. The initiative aimed to educate and inspire students about the courage and sacrifices of Indian Army and Assam Rifles soldiers during the 1962 operations.

The sessions drew enthusiastic participation from students, who expressed deep patriotic fervour while learning about the historic counter-attack by Indian forces at Walong—the only such offensive during the 1962 conflict.
At Delhi and Mumbai, senior veterans attended the events and shared firsthand accounts, adding emotional depth and authenticity to the discussions.
The outreach not only strengthened civil-military ties but also served as a fitting tribute to the brave units that fought at Walong and a solemn homage to the martyrs who laid down their lives in service of the nation.
