With fatalities in road accidents on the rise, especially of those riding two wheelers, the Jorhat Police has adopted an innovative way to encourage two wheeler riders to wear helmets.
A tweet by Jorhat Police says, “When you wear Helmet & take care of yourself & your family…. We also appreciate you… Riders wearing Helmet greeted with chocolates, while violators receive a piece of slip..!”
True to the tweet, Jorhat Police teams were seen distributing chocolates to those two wheeler riders who were wearing helmets in different parts of the town on Sunday.

The Twitterati went wild with a large number of people appreciating the police for its new method while people said this should also be introduced on highways and village roads where riders could be seen moving without helmets.
