The Assam Government wants to complete first dose of COVID-19 vaccination of all the eligible population by November 27.
Inoculation of around 10 lakh people above 18 years of age who are yet to take the first dose of COVID vaccine will be completed by that period.
The Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam, Health and Family Welfare Department, has written a letter to Deputy Commissioners of all districts and Principal Secretaries of autonomous council areas.
The letter stated that as on November 7, 2021, Assam had completed 2,89,32,622 vaccinations, with 2,02,91,039 first and 86,41,583 second doses.
This is almost 87 per cent of the target for first dose and 37 per cent for second dose against the targets given by the Government of India.
The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India, had communicated the approximate targeted population for Assam as 2.31 crores in January, 2021 and later updated it to 2.36 crores in August, 2021.
The districts have undertaken massive house-to-house surveys covering all villages and urban areas utilizing the service of more than 32,000 ASHA workers, more than 2,000 ASHA supervisors and approximately 15,000 healthcare workers, including ANMs, Multi Purpose Workers and Surveillance workers, as per their location.
