Nagaland: HM Statement on Killing of Civilians in LS
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday made an attempt to put the blame on the victims of Mon shoot out saying the vehicle carrying the mining workers were asked to sto but it did not resulting in the shootout.
Army had received info on the movement of extremists in Oting, Mon. On that basis, 21 commandos laid an ambush in suspected area.
A vehicle reached there, it was signalled to stop but it tried to flee. On suspicion of the vehicle carrying extremists, it was fired upon,” Amit Shah said in the Lok Sabha.
Shah also said that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been formed to probe the incident. The team will submit the report in 30 days.

Earlier, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi called the incident a “black day” in the state’s history and blamed “inaccurate intelligence” for it.
“The question on everyone’s mind is that how come a group of unarmed civilians were not distinguished from hard core militants,” he said.
