NFR officials said a new station building with an improved entrance lobby and circulating area has been constructed as part of the redevelopment.

The platforms have been renovated with Kota-stone surfacing and fitted with modern signage for easier navigation.

A new 12-metre-wide foot overbridge equipped with lift facilities has also been put in place to enhance passenger movement.

Additional amenities include new waiting halls, upgraded toilet blocks, improved parking arrangements and thematic lighting.

Local art and cultural motifs have been incorporated to enhance the station’s aesthetic appeal.

Under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme, 92 stations across the Northeast Frontier Railway are being redeveloped in phases.

This includes 50 stations in Assam, 23 in West Bengal, nine in Bihar, four in Tripura and six in other northeastern states, where work is progressing at different stages.

The scheme focuses on improved accessibility, revamped circulating areas, modern facades and provisions for multimodal integration.

With the Kamakhyaguri project nearing completion, NFR said the initiative reflects its commitment to providing world-class infrastructure and better travel experiences to passengers across the region.
