CRPF to hold annual parade in Guwahati for the first time

Guwahati, Nov 13 : In a first for Assam and the entire northeastern region, the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) will hold its annual parade in Guwahati this year, marking a significant shift in the venue of the paramilitary force’s flagship ceremonial event.

According to credible updates shared on social media, the decision positions Guwahati as the new host city for the parade, which traditionally takes place in other parts of the country. Officials familiar with the development said in an indicative statement that the move “reflects the increasing strategic importance of the Northeast in India’s internal security framework.”

The Chief Minister’s Office shared through an official post that “for the first time in Assam and the northeastern region, the annual parade of the @crpfindia is going to be held in Guwahati,” adding that a meeting was held at Lok Sewa Bhawan for an initial discussion on the event.

The annual parade showcases the discipline, operational preparedness and ceremonial strength of the country’s largest central armed police force. By relocating the event to Guwahati, the CRPF aims to reinforce its institutional presence in a region where the force has long been involved in counter-insurgency operations, border duties and law-and-order responsibilities.

The shift is also expected to enhance the force’s engagement with local communities and boost its visibility among youth in the Northeast. “Such events help strengthen ties between security forces and civilians,” a CRPF official said in an informal briefing shared online.

Several key details, including the exact date, participating battalions, the parade ground and public-access arrangements, are still awaited. The Assam government is expected to work closely with CRPF authorities on logistics, security and crowd management once specifics are finalised.
