Ceremony honours RPF, RPSF personnel who made the supreme sacrifice in duty
Maligaon (Guwahati), Oct 22 : The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Northeast Frontier Railway observed Police Commemoration Day 2025 with solemnity at Reserve Line, Maligaon, paying tribute to police personnel who laid down their lives in the line of duty. Senior officers, RPF and RPSF personnel, and staff from NFR headquarters and the Greater Guwahati area attended the ceremony.

The commemoration parade began at 7:20 a.m., followed by the arrival of senior officers. Shri Paramshiv, Principal Chief Security Commissioner (PCSC) of NFR, received the General Salute, read out the names of martyrs, and laid a wreath at the memorial as the band played the “Slow March.” The gathering observed a two-minute silence in memory of the fallen.
The event included the Last Post, Shok Shastra, and the unfurling of the RPF flag, which was lowered to half-mast during the ceremony and raised again after the observance.
Police Commemoration Day is marked annually on October 21 across India to honour police personnel who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to the nation.
