Extra counters, crowd-control war rooms and RPF deployed at major stations; key specials slated for October 22
Maligaon (Guwahati), October 22 : Indian Railways is running 12,011 special trains to handle Puja–Diwali–Chhath demand, up from 7,724 a year ago, with the Northeast Frontier Railway operating 48 festival specials across 620 trips from September to December 2025.

The NFR has readied holding areas, upgraded public announcements, fans, extra ticket counters and automatic ticket vending machines at Katihar, New Jalpaiguri, Guwahati, Jogbani and Kishanganj. Round-the-clock war rooms and additional staff, including RPF personnel, are in place for crowd management and passenger assistance.
Specials are running to destinations including Katihar, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Sonpur, Dauram Madhepura, Agartala, New Tinsukia, SMVT Bengaluru, Amritsar, Patna, Dibrugarh, Gorakhpur, Silchar, Naharlagun, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ranchi, Charalapalli, Mumbai Central, Agra Cantt, Jogbani, Lumding, Howrah, Gomti Nagar, Anand Vihar and Kamakhya.

Trains scheduled for Wednesday, October 22
- 05978 Dibrugarh–Gorakhpur (Weekly Special): departs 09:10, arrives 19:00.
- 05736 Katihar–Amritsar (Weekly Special): departs 21:00, arrives 09:45.
- 07541 Katihar–Dauram Madhepura (Daily Special): departs 19:00, arrives 22:00.
- 07542 Dauram Madhepura–Katihar (Daily Special): departs 22:45, arrives 02:30.
- 07540 Katihar–Manihari (Daily Special): departs 20:30, arrives 21:30.
- 07539 Manihari–Katihar (Daily Special): departs 05:00, arrives 06:00.
