Security forces recover rifle, RPG round and rucksacks; operation continues

Namsai (Arunachal Pradesh), Oct 22 : A militant belonging to the proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom (Independent), ULFA(I), was killed during an encounter with security forces in Namsai district of Arunachal Pradesh on the night of October 21–22.

According to defence sources, Indian Army and Assam Rifles troops launched an operation in the MS-6 area where contact was established with the terrorists.

A search conducted after daybreak led to the recovery of the body of SS Sergeant Major Iwon Axom, along with one rifle, an RPG round and three rucksacks.

The operation remains underway, with additional columns of the Army, Police, and CRPF joining the ongoing effort, the Defence PRO, Guwahati, said.
