MES marks 103rd foundation day in Guwahati

Guwahati, Sept 26 : The Military Engineer Services (MES) on Friday celebrated its 103rd foundation day at Narangi Cantonment in Guwahati, highlighting its role in supporting the Armed Forces through infrastructure development and sustainable engineering practices.

The event was attended by the officiating General Officer Commanding, 51 Sub Area, and CDA Narangi, who lauded MES for its contribution to operational preparedness and its commitment to innovation.

Shri Suman Kumar, Additional Director General (NEI), described MES as a vital support arm of the defence services. “MES stands firm on the principles of service, innovation, and nation-first approach. Our engineers, officers, and staff continue to contribute towards creating infrastructure that empowers the defence services to achieve operational excellence,” he said.

Activities during the day included a ceremonial lamp-lighting, an address on MES contributions, product display stalls, a technical seminar, and a high tea with dignitaries. Displays emphasized energy efficiency, eco-friendly infrastructure, and adoption of modern technologies in line with national sustainability goals.

Officials said MES Day is both a celebration of the organisation’s legacy and a reaffirmation of its roadmap for modernization, digital transformation, and green initiatives in service of the Armed Forces and the nation.
