Tawang, Sept 19 : The Ball of Fire Division of Gajraj Corps, in collaboration with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), the Arunachal Pradesh government and local agencies, conducted state-level disaster preparedness exercises in the state’s high-altitude regions.

The drills, held in Tawang and Pakke Kesang, tested rapid response, emergency communication, first aid, resource mobilisation and rehabilitation measures. Military and civil agencies worked together in simulated earthquake, landslide and flash flood scenarios, demonstrating high levels of coordination.
The exercises began with a table-top exercise in Tawang, focusing on early warning systems, evacuation planning, medical aid, relief distribution and civil-military cooperation. Representatives of multiple agencies engaged in scenario-based discussions to identify challenges and devise practical strategies for disaster management in the Himalayan terrain.

Officials said the initiative reinforced the importance of timely response, joint planning and community awareness. The drills also strengthened civil-military cooperation, aimed at ensuring better protection of lives and livelihoods in disaster-prone Arunachal Pradesh.
