Miscreants caught a rare species of tortoise and its meat was sold in market in Suagpur Pipleni village, under Goreswar PS in Baksa district of Assam.
The tortoise weighing about 15 kgs was caught from Barnadi river.
The video of the brutal killing of the tortoise went viral.
Police or the Forest Department are yet take any action in this regard till fling of this report.

The tortoise falls under Schedule I of protected species as per Indian Wildlife (Protection) Act 1972.
